چکیده

It has been shown that the incidence of vasospastic angina pectoris is more frequent in Japanese people than in Caucasians, and calcium channel blockers and/or nitrates were effective in these patients [1]. Conversely, it has been claimed that about 20% of cases are not treated effectively with combined administration of calcium channel blocker and nitrate [2]. In refractory cases, it has been shown that nicorandil, sympathetic alpha-1 receptor blockade, steroids, vitamine E, magnesium, and bypass surgery were sometimes effective. A adrenergic beta receptor (βAR) stimulatorinduced vasodilative response in the coronary arteries has been reported [3,4]. Other reports showed that combined administration of denopamine, a selective adrenergic beta-1 receptor (β1AR) stimulant, was effective in cases of refractory vasospastic angina pectoris. However, 〔Chiba Medical J. 89E:29 ~ 33, 2013〕

Prinzmetal’s angina refractory to medical treatment

We describe a case of Prinzmetal’s angina that is refractory to medical therapy but responded fully after percutaneous coronary intervention. This case shows that there is a role for percutaneous coronary intervention in refractory variant angina as long as a culprit lesion within the vasospastic segment can be identified.

Nonconventional therapeutic modalities in refractory angina pectoris

Abstract   Despite sophisticated conventional medical treatment and the continued development   and improvement of coronary revascularization modalities in recent years, a significant   number of patients still suffer from refractory angina pectoris and cannot be successfully   managed. Advances in therapeutic options have led to an increase in the average of life   expectancy even in such ...

Effectiveness of continuous low‐dose fasudil on refractory coronary vasospasm subsequent to cardiopulmonary arrest

Refractory coronary vasospasm subsequent to reperfusion, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation or revascularization, for myocardial infarction may respond to fasudil in the superacute phase. Continuous low-dose fasudil administration should be an option for refractory coronary vasospastic angina (VSA).

Class differences in calcium-channel blockers in vasospastic angina.

oronary artery spasm is an important mechanism in ischemic heart disease. Vasospastic angina (VSA) is not uncommon in Far-east Asia, including Japan and Korea, than in Western countries, for genetic as well as environmental reasons.1–5 However, it has been given little attention by many cardiologists and there are still many controversies about both the methodology of the pharmacological provoc...

Spinal Cord Stimulation for Refractory Angina Pectoris -A Case Report-

Refractory angina pectoris is defined as angina refractory to optimal medical treatment and standard coronary revascularization procedures. Despite recent therapeutic advances, patients with refractory angina pectoris are not adequately treated. Spinal cord stimulation is a minimally invasive and reversible technique which utilizes electrical neuromodulation by means of an electrode implanted i...
